I had everything set on XMP so the RAM was at 2133 but 8 less gigs. The reason I got rid of the AMD stuff was it was acting slow and choppy during heavy loads while gaming. I thought it was an AMD thing but turns out one of my RAM modules was bad. I'm going to OC the CPU to 4.5 and wait for the RMA on the RAM to run a real comparison.
I went into the BIOS and set up the AUTO profile for 4.6GHz. This was the easiest OC I've done.
This is a blog documenting my progress on my computer. There have been some good purchases, bad purchases, and even a fire. Creep with me, as I cruise in my Beemer All the kids in the ghetto call me Don Cartagena.

Overclocking on the Rampage IV Extreme is so easy it's stupid
After spending months getting my FX8350 stable at 5.0GHz with CFVZ and then aiming for 4.5GHz with the Gigabyte x79-UP7 with the 3930K, I went and bought a Rampage IV Extreme. With the two previous setups I must have spent at least 100 hours overclocking and testing.
With the RIVE I set it to the gamer OC profile of 4.7GHz and set my RAM to their recommended settings. I ran Prime 95 overnight and BOOM!! Temps never went over 50C and I'm done. In some very strange way I almost feel cheated? Great job ROG team!

My New GPU
Well, I returned one of the 7970's and my original one I had to RMA. The crossfire wasn't working out too well with games and I got sick of troubleshooting. I also got a set of CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M4A2133C9. The problem is, is i cant get a stable OC on the RAM at 2133 and anything on my 3930K over 4.0. It could be the Gigabyte X79 UP4 or my lack of knowledge with a Gigabyte board.

I'm having much more fun with new setup.
After doing some bench marking I've realized that water cooling doesn't pay. The H100i is perfect and cheap. I'm running my 3930K at 4.5Ghz and never pass 50C. Instead of cooling my 7970 I picked up another 7970 that was refurbished. It was cheaper then the Komodo block and the Alphacool pump. Don't forget about the money for the radiators and all the fittings. My analysis is, only build a custom wc setup if you want it to look cool or you are maxed out on hardware. If you can still buy a better CPU or another GPU you should do that instead.

Installed Logisys Cold Cathod
Thank God I posted my BIOS for 5.0GHz
I just updated my BIOS to 1302. I figured it would have at least saved my OC profiles but it didnt save anything. Thank God I posted screen shots of all my BIOS settings or I would have done everything all over again.

My Bios for FX 8350 5.0GHz Template
I was looking for a Bios template when I was trying to set this up and I couldn't find one anywhere. In order to help others I decided I would post all my bios settings. Please remember no two chips are the same and there are different factors such as RAM. Hopefully this will help with most of the energy saving stuff.

Overclocking MSI HD7970
Over clocking my MSI R7970-2PMD3GD5 HD7970.Funny thing is, I have to use Trixx Mod in order to bring the VDDC over 1300mV. I think I killed it on Heaven Benchmark at 1320MHz. I did start to notice some artifacting when I went over though. I do think this is proof about how well the KOMODO-HD7900 series full cover VGA waterblock works. That's a lot of voltage and it never went over 40C

Finally, 5.0GHz
Finally got my speeds to what I'm calling stable at 20 minutes of OCCT. I'll try for at least 12 hours tonight just to see. I do have to work on the temps a bit. I think if I change the Power Duty Control back to T.Probe from Extreme it will lower the temps a bit and keep it stable.

Converted Everything into a Single Loop
I made a everything in my 600T into a single loop and have some comparisons. The order is
Res1>Pump1>360Rad>CPU>MOBO>RAM>Res2>Pump2>GPU>120Rad>200Rad
After running OCCT with the same settings my package temps were about 11C cooler. Now what's cooler than being cool? Ice cold!

4.9 GHz and counting.
I had to lower my RAM speeds to 1866MHz with a BUS speed of 200. I ran a 20 minute test with OCCT. Once I get to over 5GHz I will run the test for at least 12 hours. My temps are already getting pretty high though.
Stable 4.8 GHz
I'm going to continue to work on it and try to get it over 5.0GHz. Idle temps are about 20C with fans on low.
She's Back with Corsair AX1200i PSU
I got everything up and running. I connected the 8 and 4 pin power cables this time so hopefully no fire. I also got a Koolance 3x120mm, Triple 120mm, 30-FPI Copper Radiator HX-CU1020V from Hellfire-pcs based in Texas. I like them better than Frozencpu and Performance-pcs.

360 Radiator for Corsair 600T and Built Loop#2
I dont have my 360 radiator yet but, I decided to cut the roof out for it today anyway. The radiator will be here Tuesday and I will be cooling the CPU & MOBO with the 360 (Loop#1). I also completed Loop#2 today. Right now I only have a HD7970 on a Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 120 Radiator 120x120x80mm & Phobya Xtreme 200mm Radiator 200x200x36mm rad. I also bought another Alphacool VPP655 HF pump with a flow rate of 1,500 L/hr, I love this pump! I also plan on getting two more 7970s in the future and at least the loop is prepared for them to go in.

Crosshair V Formula-Z Fire Problem Solved
Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Fire! Fire! Something is very fishy.
I think I might have something wrong with my PSU or something. This is really starting to irritate me. It happened in the same spot. I think it is on the back moffset.

Started to OC AMD FX 8350 @ 4.5GHz with Great Temps.
I made my RAM at 1866 MHz and got my CPU up to 4.5 GHz I ran AMD OverDrive Stability Test for 2 hours and the temps are looking great.
I'm going to try and hit that magical 5.0 GHz and keep it stable. I will also have to change around my GPU loop. Not really sure how I'm going to run it yet.

Just added EK-FB ASUS C5F-Z and Created a Dual Loop
Since I added the MOBO block I decided to split the loops. I put the GPU on it's own loop with a Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 120 Radiator and a 800 l/hr pump.
It's pretty crammed. I have to clean up the lower half of my case.
